Use the research carefully. Explain the context. Make uncertainty visible.

What the resources are for

This is Dr. Marlon Melville’s educational collection for students, athletes, coaches, parents and educators in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean. It supports learning and reflection. It is not a diagnostic service, a professional certification or a substitute for individual care.

Follow the evidence

Modules identify foundational sources and provide links to research where available. A result reported across studies is not a promise for every athlete. Consider the task, population, study design and outcome before applying a finding. An association between confidence and performance does not, by itself, establish causation.

Recognise different kinds of material

• Peer-reviewed research: scholarly work labelled by its publication type on the research page.
• Preprints and work under review: labelled separately; they should not be treated as completed peer review.
• Caribbean teaching cases: fictional composite scenarios for analysis, not records of identifiable athletes or claims that a specific intervention was tested locally.
• Teaching models: the Human–Chimp–Computer model is a functional metaphor. Its labels do not describe three literal anatomical brain systems.
• Teaching articles and curated videos: original reading guides explain concepts through fictional cases. Linked videos are credited to their speakers and providers; a public talk is not automatically evidence for an intervention. Viewing prompts and text alternatives support critical use.
• Practice activities: educational exercises with suggested reasoning; they are not validated psychological assessments.

Interpret progress accurately

Knowledge-check feedback concerns the teaching questions on this website. Completion, a saved plan or a high practice score does not demonstrate improved sporting performance, clinical recovery or professional competence. Public exercises do not submit work to Moodle.

Check dates and raise questions

An “updated” date identifies a change to the learning resource, not independent peer review. If you find an error, an inaccessible resource or a broken reference, please contact Dr. Melville with the page title and details.
